In October 2013 we set out on a month long backpacking journey across Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. We captured hours of footage and have tried to whittle it down to a few minutes in a few short films. This film shows our journey through Myanmar.
Myanmar (Burma) is under one of the longest military dictatorships. It was heavily sanctioned from the U.S. and other countries, traveling here was off-limits in the past. Aung San Suu Kyi, a political activist, Nobel laureate, and daughter of a Burmese hero who negotiated the independence from Britain (and so much more, this woman is incredible!) pushed to open the borders to tourists in 2011. We were more than humbled and delighted to experience the kindness of the people and the beauty of this country.
